New iphone 3g
Now that I’ve had my iPhone 3G for a week, it’s time for a review. I’m a first time user I never owed the original iPhone. My Primary Phone was a Bell HTC 6800 a great phone in its own right.
So why did I buy a iPhone? well I have been using a apple itouch for some time and enjoyed all the apps I could install on it. It was very practicable to have all the time. I missed some things on it like the Camera and on board sound and of course the phone part.
I have the 16 GB back model, My older iTouch was only 8 gigs and filled up shortly with podcast, music, and photos. Since I never owed a iphone before and only seen a few my friends had owed, I can say I like the new black ceramic alloy back, rather than the cold aluminum back of the first generation iphone and itouch. I found my itouch became scratched up banging around in my pocket with my keys. I highly recommend buying a skin for your phone.
From my understanding if you crack your iphone glass it now can be replaced unlike the first generation iphone. this sounds to me like a great improvement. The other thing i noticed is that the loudspeaker is much better than the original.
A new feature for the iPhone is the GPS, and I loved this feature on my HTC 6800, I don’t think I would have bought the iphone if it didnt have GPS. The GPS is fast even in buildings it uses google maps, unlike other GPS mapping devices it doesn’t work to well in a moving vehicle due to the fact it does not orient itself to the direction you are going.
The camera in the phone is basic but takes nice pictures in well lit rooms or outdoors in plenty of light. the iphone does not have zoom so if you need to get in close you need to use your feet.
the iphone can Sync to your Microsoft email client and download your contacts. There are plenty of useful apps on Itunes some are free and some you pay for.
I really cant talk about the 3g radio as In Canada this feature is not implemented in all places yet.
In conclution I would say the iphone is very nice cell phone that can do most everything you will need it for and then some…
